Description/Job Summary

McAllister Towing is looking for a self-driven and competent Collection Specialist to join our team! As a Collection Specialist at our company, your main responsibility will be to contact clients and collect missed and outstanding payments.

The ideal person is professional and trustworthy with the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities/Duties

Description of Primary Duties:

  • Provide customer service regarding collection issues, process customer refunds, process and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and credit issues.
  • Monitor and maintain accounts on a daily basis - Customer calls, account adjustments, customer reconciliations and processing credit memos.
  • Accountable for monitoring accounts and reducing delinquency
  • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due; Take appropriate actions to encourage timely payments.
  • Enlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
  • Communicate and follow up effectively with sales and accounting departments regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with clients and customers to discuss billing issues, overdue payments or credit issues
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly reports on collection activities and progress to management
  • Process monthly credit memos and the appropriate reporting
  •  Other duties as assigned

Required Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years corporate Collections experience.
  • Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures
  • Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • High competency in Excel with general working knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of accounting systems with MS Dynamics a plus
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience with the Jones Act a plus
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA or related background preferred.
